Thank You for Creating a Safe Space for Healing and Connection

Dear all,

I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for the opportunity to speak at the recent Kaia retreat on "The Hidden Connection: How Unprocessed Emotions Affect Physical Health and Wellbeing." It was truly an honor to share such an important topic with all of you, and I am incredibly grateful for the openness and warmth you brought to the space.

Discussing how unprocessed emotions can manifest as physical disease is not always easy, but your willingness to listen, engage, and reflect made it possible for me to speak openly and from my heart. Together, we explored the profound impact that our emotional health has on our physical wellbeing, and the importance of addressing these emotions to foster true healing.

I was deeply moved by the thoughtful questions, shared experiences, and the collective energy in the room. It reinforced for me the power of community and the importance of creating safe spaces where we can all explore these connections without judgment.

As we move forward, I encourage you to continue embracing and exploring the mind-body connection in your own lives, whether through mindfulness, therapy, or simply being more attuned to your. body and how your emotions influence your health. Remember, healing is a journey, and you are not alone.

Also, in my last minute whim to say F*@! IT to my Power Point, I didn't share a few important resources that I'd like you to have:

  1. Some good resources for therapy: psychologytoday.com (this is where I found my therapist); findapsychologist.org; goodtherapy.org

  2. Here are five insightful books that explore the connection between emotions and physical health:

    1. "The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma" by Bessel van der Kolk, M.D.

      • This book delves into how trauma and emotional experiences are stored in the body, affecting both mental and physical health. It offers a comprehensive look at how trauma can manifest in various physical ailments and the importance of addressing these underlying emotional issues for healing.

    2. "When the Body Says No: The Cost of Hidden Stress" by Gabor Maté, M.D.

      • Gabor Maté explores the relationship between chronic stress, emotional repression, and physical illness. He presents compelling case studies that illustrate how unprocessed emotions can lead to diseases like cancer, autoimmune disorders, and more.

    3. "The Balance Within: The Science Connecting Health and Emotions" by Esther M. Sternberg, M.D.

      • This book provides a scientific exploration of how emotions influence our immune system and overall health. Sternberg offers insights into the biological mechanisms that link the mind and body, making a strong case for the integration of emotional health in medical treatment.

    4. "Full Catastrophe Living: Using the Wisdom of Your Body and Mind to Face Stress, Pain, and Illness" by Jon Kabat-Zinn

      • Kabat-Zinn’s book focuses on mindfulness and its role in managing stress, pain, and illness. He explains how mindfulness practices can help process emotions and improve physical health, offering practical techniques for integrating these concepts into daily life.

    5. "Healing Back Pain: The Mind-Body Connection" by John E. Sarno, M.D.

      • Dr. John Sarno discusses how repressed emotions, particularly anger, can manifest as physical pain, particularly in the back. His book has been influential in helping people understand the emotional roots of physical pain and offers strategies for addressing these issues.

  3. I mentioned the Hoffman Retreat during my talk. Life changing. Here is their website:

  4. Steph's morning meditation -- a beautiful and safe space to tune your attention to your emotions, your body, your mind, and your spirit. Join us Monday - Friday at 7 am on Zoom. Go to the app store, download the Kaia FIT app, and choose HQ as your location. It may ask you to input your credit card information in but it won't charge you. The meditations are free and available to anyone.

  5. And finally... and I can't recommend this enough: Rage/Smash Rooms to sweat that shit out.

Lastly, I’m excited to offer a special lab workshop for retreat participants and anyone else who’s interested in joining. In this workshop, I will order lab work (which should be done at least a week beforehand) and then guide you through a detailed review of the results during a 90-minute Group Zoom session on October 2. The workshop is priced at $199*, and during our group session, we’ll dive deep into what each lab result means, discuss how to optimize your health, and I’ll provide personalized recommendations for supplements and plant medicines. I’ll also be available to answer any questions you have. Please reach out to me via email at awarren@curachaiandapothecary.com if you are interested in joining.

*Please note that the cost of the workshop does not include the cost of the lab work itself. I encourage you to contact your insurance provider to understand any associated costs.

Thank you once again for making the retreat such a meaningful experience. If you missed the retreat this year, be sure to stay connected on social for future events:
